Well Hello There
Thank you for stopping by my website
For whatever reason you've landed on my website, I think the best place to start is with an introduction. I'm Talia Camozzi and I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor based out of Revelstoke, BC.
My clinical practice is entirely online or on the phone, and I’m currently accepting new clients.
I also write (both fiction and non-fiction), and give seminars, public talks, and education around topics related to the integration of wounds and wisdom in the psyches, souls, and physical systems of people. Some specific topics I have presented on include Nurturing and Growing Children’s Nervous Systems, Workplace Wellness, Women’s Wellness, Trauma-Informed Education, Slowing Down, Chronic Illness, and the Long-Term Impact of Adverse Childhood Events.
Growing up, I was privileged to be surrounded by lots of nature: mountains, rivers, lakes, wildflowers, and animals. Early on, I realized that health and healing is not something we do on our own as individuals, but with the support of others and the environment. Throughout my life, I’ve experienced and witnessed profound illness and profound healing. Through many childhood stays at hospitals and the Ronald McDonald House I was exposed to the unfair hardships that people have to endure. I learned that healing looks different for everyone, and total recovery is not always the goal. Sometimes it’s learning to live with and integrate what cannot be changed.
One of the treasures of so many of my early childhood experiences being in the hospital was a seed of deep acceptance for the hardships of others, and being able to see the essence of a person through their pain.
My love of people expanded over the years, and in 2010 I made the choice to dedicate my career to the well-being of others. A little over 2 years later, I completed a Master's of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I began my career in private practice and doing a contract for the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) in Child and Youth Mental Health and a Sexual Abuse Intervention Program. I then transitioned into working for School District 83 as a high school counsellor and continuing on with my private practice. After I became a mother, I transitioned to solely private practice.
I have learned so much from all of the people I have had the privilege to work with over the years. The young people I saw at the school and through MCFD were a constant reminder about the uniquely special childhood and teenage years. I do not dismiss what young people are going through as a phase or as angst, but as important crossroads in their lives, and that they deserve gentle, kind, compassionate support to get through.
I believe that variety is the spice of life so I have had the pleasure of counselling parents of babies, people who are in their retirement years, and people of all ages in between.
I have a special interest in working with people who are highly sensitive, highly ambitious and have experienced trauma. These people exist in all demographics and are sometimes people looking to deepen their relationships and self love, women in business looking to create a better work/life balance, teenagers with bold dreams for their future, or people who have experienced a major loss (death, relationship, job, home). People who are highly sensitive are not “too sensitive” rather they experience life more deeply. This can lead to more experiences of beauty and love but also deeper pain and darker times.
My therapeutic style is gentle, accepting, and holistic in nature. I take great care to honor all aspects of you: psyche, soul, and physical system. My training in the last several years has focused on somatic attachment psychotherapy. In a nutshell, somatic practice means bringing the body’s knowledge and wisdom into our therapy sessions. What the body is communicating is just as important as what the mind is communicating, and together we can start listening in to what your body is saying. Attachment practice means to acknowledge the early years in your life. How each person’s attachment style develops is unique to themselves and is based on how they were cared for. For all babies, dependence on their caregiver is absolutely vital for their survival, physical needs, emotional security, and resilience. Being raised in a harmful environment can instill fear, survival dependencies, and and internal attachment conflicts. These can play out under a person’s awareness in their adult lives.
From experience I know that deep, lasting, and transformational healing is both of our goals in therapy. It is my intention to create a space for you that is safe, warm, welcoming, and sacred. A space where you can explore all aspects of your life, address the big things that are weighing you down, and ultimately move forward at your own speed with more awareness, acceptance, and care for yourself.
